Don't Bite! (now with marshmallows)

Aug 04 2010 Published by under Odds 'n Ends

By now you've spent half of your week learning about the cookie test and delay of gratification...but if you're like me, you are wondering what the kids are doing while they're trying their hardest to avoid eating the cookie*.

Lucky for you, I have this video in my arsenal. And the results are pretty hilarious.

Enjoy "The Marshmallow Test."

*Also, if you're like me, you've gone out and bought** some cookies.

**What? Don't look at me like that. I waited until TUESDAY to buy cookies. If that's not delay of gratification, I don't know what is.

I suppose I'm sheepishly forced to admit that I baked cookies.

Does it count as delay of gratification if I actually bake them and don't just eat all the dough?

+1 for Tybo 🙂 That one little girl didn't even wait until she was alone, lol.

Oh wow, I love the little girl who eats it IMMEDIATELY. Truly, a girl after my own heart..

I've seen this video before, but couldn't resist watching it again 🙂

And I agree, that little girl who eats immediately and then leaves with the plate is hilarious. Like - what, you're trying to do an experiment here? Let's just eat the marshmallow instead.

Very cool, although I'm sure that I've seen this video before you published this post. Any chance you posted it elsewhere?

No, but it was also recently posted at Skepticon. You also may have seen it in a child dev class. (If you're at USC, it's almost certain that you saw this video, if you took child dev)
